charismitainel--In the event I need to bribe people, this could be very useful information. Therefore, I am listing the five most effective things to bribe me with. If you get tagged, your mission is to do the same, then tag 5 more people.
Yarn: Yarn is good, Katy loves yarn - especially in orange, lime green, electric blue, white, or black. And even more especially if it's unusual yarn, not the stuff you find in any regular craft store.
Music: Damnit, Katy wants Showbread's new cd NOW! And/or anything band-related, especially tshirts, stickers, and buttons
Random Useless Crap: Katy likes little weird toys (my favorite right now is my magical grow your own fishtank), awesome stickers, office supplies, kitchen crap she has NO use for, and other assorted fun stuff, especially if it's designed all cool-like. Oh and she loves robots, and little spaceships, and pirates.
Tshirts/shoes: Katy has an addiction to quirky designer tshirts... however she does not like anything resembling those black shirts with a stupid saying in a cheesy white font on the front, they are dumb. And buy Katy a pair of size 8.5 chuck t's and you're her friend for life.
Books (and other ephemera): Katy likes books a lot. Especially classic sci fi novels (for the moment), vintage cookbooks (they're hilarious!), any book having to do with design (graphic or industrial), and vintage astronomy. She also likes random retro stuff. And books with well-designed covers. And she really wants Chip Kidd's autobiography.
I tag everybody I'm a friend of, since there's not that many.
And now for the real post.....
It's weird, ever since I really got into design, I've started becoming a design snob. Seriously. Like, it's started to matter what something as simple as a shoe looks like. I'll notice shoes people are wearing, and go, oh, that one's got nice lines, or that one looks like crap. Also, I've been digging the weirdest things, like, kitchen utensils, lamps, bedspreads, office supplies. I walked into Sur La Table the other day and went crazy over all the pretty colored spatulas. That was weird, I don't even cook. You don't even want to see me in Target, it's like a design paradise over there lately (I love their design ads too! So awesome!). Speaking of stores, I've totally been noticing displays and stuff to see how they're designed, colors used, etc, even if it's something I'm not even interested in. And I've become a tshirt design snob. If it ain't designed well, then I don't like it. Bizarre. Oh and I've started flipping to the back flap of book covers while emptying bookdrop or shelving at the library to see who designed the cover. I guess all this is a good thing though, it means I'm starting to develop an eye for design, even if I've started to be a lot more critical of things. The flip side of all this though is I find myself getting annoyed easily when I see something I could fix myself, but I won't because either I'm allowed to, or it's just not worth it, or something like that. I now have to restrain myself in making signs for work, hehehe
